Inside This Stunning New Home in One of Silicon Valley's Favorite Neighborhoods: San Jose

A brand-new 4-bed home with an office in an established South San Jose pocket

So you're thinking about moving to Silicon Valley, and you want brand-new construction in one of the most established, sought-after pockets of the South Bay? You need to see this one. This home sits in a quiet San Jose neighborhood tucked up against the foothills, with curving streets and mature trees, and it is still close to everything Silicon Valley.

Relocating buyers ask me about this kind of location constantly. Here's what nobody tells you: new construction on an established street is rare here, and the builder is only putting up a handful of homes like this one. Let's head inside.

A Grand Entry and Open Living Room

An arched opening frames the view from the foyer into the living space.

The oversized custom solid wood front door opens to a foyer with very tall ceilings and a gold light fixture. Gold finishes carry through the entire house. An arched opening frames the way into the main living space, and it makes the home feel finished rather than builder-basic.

The living room is fully open concept, made for hosting and for kids landing after school. The fireplace wall is large-format tile running from the floor all the way to the ceiling, with slabs so big the seams almost disappear. On the dining side the ceilings get even taller, with a pendant hanging from the very top for a dramatic look at night.

A Kitchen with a Full Thermador Package

The island has built-in outlets and storage on both sides.

The kitchen is the centerpiece, and storage is where this builder really delivers. Highlights include:

  • A huge island with built-in outlets, perfect if you work from your laptop at the counter like I do
  • A Thermador package, including a refrigerator taller than I am and an electric cooktop with a large oven
  • Two-tone cabinets, white above and wood below, push-to-open with no hardware for a clean look
  • A deep sink beside the dishwasher, with a statement light fixture centered over it
  • Cabinets on both sides of the island for seasonal items
  • A wine fridge plus a separate wine bar with its own sink
  • A walk-in pantry nook down the hall for small appliances and extra snacks

Let me be totally honest with you about the electric cooktop. A lot of Bay Area new construction is moving away from gas. It isn't for everybody, so if you cook a lot, try one before you commit, but your food will cook just fine.

Bedrooms That Don't Compromise on Space

Secondary bedrooms keep generous space and tall ceilings.

Many new builds here shrink the rooms to fit more homes on a lot. This one did the opposite. Along a long hallway on one side of the house you'll find:

  • Spacious secondary bedrooms with tall ceilings, recessed lights and walk-in closets
  • An ensuite bedroom, plus a shared full bath with large-format tile, wood slats, a lighted mirror and a handheld shower
  • A bedroom with a built-in lit shelf across the headboard wall and a barn-door closet
  • Extra windows and skylights, including in the hallway and the laundry room, so there isn't a dark room in the house

The office sits apart from the bedrooms and could be a fifth bedroom.

On the opposite side of the home, the office is staged as a workspace but works as a fifth bedroom. It's set apart from the other bedrooms, so it's quieter for calls or more private for guests, and it has its own large walk-in closet with a full bathroom right across the hall.

The laundry room has a skylight and room for a door, and the two-car garage comes with an EV charger. There's driveway and street parking for guests, too.

Indoor-Outdoor Living and a Covered Patio

The sliding doors push fully open to the patio.

A wall of sliding glass doors pushes fully open, so the great room and patio become one space for entertaining. There are even floor outlets in the living area, so you can set up a table in the middle of the room without running cords.

This is one of my favorite backyards I've seen in a new build. The covered patio fits a dining table and a mounted TV, and the builder cut six open light wells into the patio roof so it never feels dark. I haven't seen another builder out here do that. New lawn, wood-tone fencing all the way around and an open dirt area round it out. I'd put a fire pit and some chairs there.

The Primary Suite: Built Like a Retreat

The primary bedroom has windows to the backyard and side yard.

The primary bedroom is the largest room in the house, with big windows to the backyard and side yard and plenty of space for a sitting area or a second vanity. The ensuite bathroom is nearly as big as the bedroom:

  • Separate dual vanities with lighted, anti-fog mirrors
  • A deep oval freestanding soaking tub
  • A large curbless walk-in shower, easy to step into now and practical if you plan to stay long term
  • Frosted windows that bring in light while keeping your privacy
  • An oversized, vented private water closet
  • A walk-in closet with custom built-ins and angled shoe shelves

The Neighborhood: What You're Really Paying For

An established pocket of South San Jose with mature trees.

You're not just paying for a new house. You're paying for a settled, quiet, family-oriented pocket where people tend to stay long term.

  • Schools: At the time of filming, the assigned elementary and middle schools were rated 7 out of 10 and the high school 9 out of 10. Always confirm school boundaries for a specific address.
  • Commute: The Almaden Expressway connects you to Highway 85 and the 101. Santa Clara, Mountain View and even Menlo Park are manageable. San Francisco at rush hour is a real commitment from the South Bay.
  • Outdoors: A large lake park nearby has walking trails and water views.
  • Everyday errands: Shopping, coffee and dining are just a few minutes away.

Who This Home Is For

  • Relocating families who want a strong school pocket in an established neighborhood
  • Buyers who want a brand-new, move-in-ready home with zero maintenance and no projects
  • Anyone who works from home and needs an office separate from the bedrooms
  • Hosts who want true indoor-outdoor living

Home Specs and Price

  • Bedrooms: 4 plus an office that can work as a 5th bedroom
  • Bathrooms: 4 full
  • Living area: About 3,454 sq ft
  • Garage: Attached 2-car with EV charging
  • Construction: Brand new single-family home on its own lot
  • Highlights: Thermador package, covered patio with light wells, curbless primary shower, skylights throughout
  • Price at time of filming: $3,280,000

At $3.28 million, a 20% down payment is about $656,000. That's well above San Jose's overall single-family median of around $1.5 million, but you're paying for new construction, more space and an established location, and that combination rarely comes up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is new construction common in San Jose's established neighborhoods? No. Land is limited in the Bay Area, and new homes on settled streets like this don't come up often. The builder is only building a few homes like this one.

What schools serve this home? At the time of filming, the elementary and middle schools were rated 7 out of 10 and the high school 9 out of 10. Confirm boundaries for the specific address with the district.

How far is this part of San Jose from tech employers? The Almaden Expressway leads to Highway 85 and the 101, so Santa Clara and Mountain View are a manageable drive. San Francisco during rush hour is a much longer commute.

Does this new home have gas or electric appliances? The kitchen has an electric Thermador cooktop and oven, which is increasingly common in new construction across the Bay Area.
